Our 4th Anniversary!

On May 8, 2008 we celebrated our 4th anniversary! Since we were leaving for Cabo San Lucas Mexico in only a couple days, we decided to have a low-key dinner at the Green Mill on our anniversary. I had my usual, butternut squash ravioli (which is the same meal Shane had picked up for me as take out the night he proposed!)

After dinner it was home to dig into our yummy cake! Every year we order a cake from It Takes the Cake - the same bakery that made our wedding cake. For the past few years we had been rotating between the 2 different flavors of our wedding cake - chocolate cake with ganache filling (my favorite!) and white cake with raspberry filling (Shane's favorite!) Well, this year we wised up and ordered 1 cake with both! Since there are 4 layers in a cake, the bottom 2 layers were chocolate with ganache and the top 2 layers were white with raspberry. It was the best of both worlds!

Being very preoccupied with the adoption process, our anniversary snuck up on us this year and neither of us had thought about gifts! Attempting to stick with our tradition of buying gifts off the anniversary gift list (I wonder who came up with these lists), this year was a stretch. The traditional 4th anniversary gift is flowers or fruit with the modern 4th anniversary gift of electrical appliances. So we made sure to request that our cake have frosting flowers just in case we couldn't come up with another idea!

We really didn't need any appliances, so I was racking my brain trying to come up with something that fit. Although not much of an "appliance", after some sweet talking, I was able to convince Shane that we needed a video camera to take all sorts of videos of our lil' Slom once he or she arrives. So now we just need to figure out how it works!!
