The night before Halloween, the boys got to work designing their pumpkins. They had a fun time getting creative with the unique designs they drew.
They even helped (or at least tried to help) clean out the insides of the pumpkins.

"Uh-oh! Where'd my spoon go?"
Shane had to improvise a bit when it came to the actual cutting of the pumpkins (Owen's drawing was a bit elaborate and Cole's was mostly scribbles!), but both Owen and Cole loved how they turned out.

"Yay! My pumpkin is getting carved!"
The boys had a bit of fun with their pumpkins before taking them outside.

"It's eating my foot!!"

Oooooo...so scary!
On Halloween day, Owen's class had a big party at school. All the kids wore their costumes to school. He dressed up as a big scary triceratops!

That night, the boys patiently waited for the sun to set. Once it had finally gotten dark, the dinosaurs came out to play...

This year even I got into the Halloween spirit. All month Owen had been telling me that I'd make the perfect witch (Shane and I had gone to see the show Wicked and Owen had been very interested in hearing all about the witches.) So one day as we walked into Target, Owen's eyes lit up. He ran over and grabbed a black witches hat off the shelf and happily gave it to me. For some reason, he was really excited for me to dress up as a witch! So of course I had to buy the hat and when we got home, Owen picked out the perfect black sweater for me to wear...

We weren't quite sure where we were going to trick-or-treat with this
being the first year in our new home. (We live on a rather secluded
road with only 6 other houses.) So we decided to start in our
neighborhood and then drive to our old neighborhood just a couple miles
down the road.

After stopping by the houses in our neighborhood, the boys were surprisingly all trick-or-treated out. So we had just one last stop...our house. Because of their gluten free/dairy free diet, they wouldn't be able to eat the majority of the treats they had gotten, so I loaded up on lots of their favorite goodies. They both dug into their treats and got a good dose of sugar just before bedtime.

"Yay! A whole bucket full of goodies!"
|
"This stuff tastes amazing!"
|
"I love chocolate!"

"Oh man, do I love chocolate"
