A New School Year

After a busy summer, every stay-at-home moms' favorite day arrived - THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL! The boys started another year at Turtle Lake. Cole is a 2nd grader this year and Owen is a big man on campus - a 5th grader! Next year he'll be off to Middle School - EEK!! I'm definitely not ready for that!

Cole's teacher this year is Mrs. Huffman. We've heard great things about her and she has gone out of her way to make Cole's transition a smooth one. She even stopped by his room several times last year so that he could get to know her a bit. His transition could not have gone better!  He's had a fabulous start to the 2nd Grade!

Owen's teacher is Mrs. Boyer-Kellermann. It's quite the mouthful to say so she goes by Mrs. B-K. Unfortunately none of his close buddies are in his class. They mix the students up every year so they can get to know all the kids. When you have over 175 students in your class, you're bound to run into some new faces.  Owen likes his teacher and is SO excited for the big 5th Grade trip - an overnight camping trip to Laurentian Environmental Center located off Arrowhead Lake about 1 1/2 hours north of Duluth.  They will spend 3 days up in the cold north in December of all months - brrrr. They'll be snow-shoeing, ice fishing, and lots more! Owen can not wait!

Rose started her second year of preschool at North Oaks. She loves it there and was so excited to go back and see her teachers and friends. She goes 3 mornings a week. Mondays are extra special because she gets to go an additional hour for Lunch Bunch where the kids eat lunch at school. She loves it (and Mom loves that extra hour!)

Kate and I are loving our quiet mornings with just the two of us. She is getting so big so fast, before I know it, she'll be heading off to school like her big siblings.

Kate discovering how fun it is to play with styrofoam!
