Every year we celebrate Cole's Family Day - the day we found out about our tiny little surprise! It's a special day just for Cole. While not a typical celebration for a biological child, having a family full of adopted siblings meant Cole would also get his own special Family Day.
I clearly remember this day, 10 years ago. I was so shocked to see the results of the pregnancy test that I ran out to Walgreens late at night to purchase a second one, convinced that the results had been inaccurate. Much to my surprise, the second test revealed the same results. We were going to be parents again! Now the only shock is that it's been an entire decade since that day. How did the years go by so quickly?
We celebrated a day early with an outing to Bowlero to bowl and play arcade games. We bowled and ate our fill of pub food (fries, pizza, chicken strips, and cookies for dessert.) Cole was Rose's assistant, helping her out when needed. And Cole even bowled a spare!
Bowling with little ones can take quite a while and by the time we got through 8 frames, we were all ready for the arcade. Everyone got a chance to play their favorite games and try a few new ones.
For his evening adventure, Cole requested a sleep over at Nana Judy's house. He LOVES his sleep overs! Cole, along with Owen, packed their overnight bags and off they went to stay at Nana's and Popi's house for the night. But before leaving, Cole made sure to get in his daily dose of WWE on the Xbox. Cole sure loves the WWE!! Just don't try to beat him or you will see the wrath of one mad little guy!
Cole had a wonderful time at Nana's and Popi's house, eating out at his fav - the Pancake House, visiting Great Nana's and Great Popi's house, and a trip to the MN Zoo.
The next day was THE day - February 17th! Cole's Family Day! Our little guy got to pick wherever he wanted to go for dinner. He originally said to his Pa, "Well, Mom hates Red Robin, so can you give me some names of other places?" Haha! Always thinking of others. And I of course said if he wanted to eat at Red Robin, then Red Robin it would be!
For some reason that restaurant is always jam packed, even with us arriving at 4:50 pm to try to get seated quicker. After waiting 30 minutes with 4 squirmy kids, it was finally our turn to be seated!
Cole wasted no time grabbing the table top device to get his game on. That device is likely the reason he always requests Red Robin.
A very happy Family Day to you, Cole! You are our always-on-the-move, fun loving boy! You make us laugh, you keep us on our toes and you bring so much joy to our lives! We are forever grateful for our tiny surprise of YOU ten years ago. We love you!
