Aria's tendon lengthening surgery went better than we could have hoped! Once the tight tendons in her groin area were cut, her hips looked better than they anticipated. Instead of needing a spica cast which goes from waist to toes, she only needed to be casted below the knee. This was amazing news! She'd be much more comfortable and easier to care for with the smaller casts. She has knee braces over the casts to keep her knees straight and a 12" metal bar to keep her hips in the optimal position. The other good piece of news - the tendon behind one knee was determined to not be as tight as originally thought so that one leg was spared an extra incision.

Aria ended up spending two nights in the hospital so they could monitor her. She's been in quite a bit of pain which is to be expected. Thankfully it has gotten a little better with each passing day. Her eating and drinking has declined following surgery but we are hopeful once she starts feeling a bit better that she'll start eating more.
Her casts are scheduled to come off on August 24th - just 16 more days! At that time, she will have an Xray of her hips. We are praying that they remain further in the hip socket and that another hip surgery can be avoided.
