Happy Family Day to you, Cole! Oh my, what a day it was 12 years ago when we found out we were expecting you! We were in the early stages of piles of adoption paperwork when God decided it was time to change course - the next little Slominski was already with us. You were quite the surprise, to say the least.
With a family full of siblings who each have their own special Family Day celebrations, it seemed only fitting to celebrate a Family Day for you - the day we found out about you. While we would have to wait 8 more months for your birthday, we were able to catch little glimpses of you as you grew. Your very first photo op, you had been growing for just 6 weeks.
At 29 weeks, we both had gotten much bigger.
At 36 weeks, we got a sneak peak of your handsome face with a 3D ultrasound. You looked adorable and quite smooshed in your mama's tummy!
Cole - oh how you have grown into a big boy with big ideas. You are always coming up with the craziest of plans. Your most recent was getting mom a wrestling costume so you and I could wrestle like the pros. Instead, we both agreed on a gigantic blow up monkey that you could practice all your wrestling moves on. The trampoline has become your wrestling ring and we take turns being the referee while the other lucky one gets to take a turn pinning the monkey. It's quite the sight to see.
Texting has been your most recent obsession. And you always expect a response right away. If you don't hear back within the minute, you send another and another text. Some days you text your Pa and Nana Bev 10, 20, even 50 times!
You love music and dancing to the beat. During our rushed bedtime routine, you often ask me for a dance. And what do we dance to? The jingle for Pajanimals sung by yours truly.
"Are you ready for beddy-bye?
The Pajanimals are ready for beddy-bye
The Pajanimals are ready for you
To get ready for beddy-bye too"
Due to COVID, there wouldn't be any big excursions to your favorite spots to celebrate your special day. Instead, we started out the day with a trip to Caribou for a yummy Hot Chocolate.
That evening we dined on take out from your favorite restaurant - Red Robin! You have loved Red Robin for years and always order the same: a turkey burger with fries and a cranberry juice.
Of course, we had to the end the day with cookies and lots of wild pillow fights with your sisters.
Cole, you are our silly, on-the-move boy. You are always making us laugh with your goofy antics. You are truly one-of-a-kind. Happy Family Day, Cole! We love you!
