Easter 2022

Both Rose and Cole were up at the crack of dawn Easter morning canvassing the area. They had already discovered and snooped through most of the Easter baskets before the rest of us woke for the day. Next time the bunny may need to do a better job of hiding things.

To make matters worse, in the chaos of finding places to hide all the baskets and eggs in the dark of night, that rascally rabbit forgot to leave a note. Can you imagine?!? Rose was definitely not impressed by the lack of a letter. Hopefully next year the bunny remembers!

Once Kate and Aria awoke from their slumber, the hunting for baskets officially began. They quickly found their baskets and excitedly looked through them to see what goodies the Easter Bunny had left for them.

Then the search began for the Easter eggs that were hiding all over the messy room. It was extra challenging due to the ball pit balls also being scattered across the floor.

While the big kids quickly opened each egg to gobble up the treat, our little pitcher Aria thought it was much more fun to throw her Easter eggs.

After all the excitement, the big girls got to work making art with their new kits.

And Cole played with his new wild flying ball that hovered and bounced around like crazy.

Owen was the last to wake up (teenagers do need their beauty sleep after all!) He set off to find all his hidden treasures.

His basket was so well hidden that he may have wondered if the Easter Bunny had forgotten to leave one for him. Everyone watched as Owen searched and searched and FINALLY found it hiding in the kitchen cabinet.

That afternoon, we got to work coloring 3 dozen hard boiled eggs. A few dozen eggs seemed like plenty, but the kids really got into coloring them and before we knew it, they were arguing over who got to color the last one.

Owen even decorated an egg to match the Colombian flag.

Aria, however, was not in the mood to color, she just wanted to play with the door. After a few attempts at handing her a marker that she would quickly toss onto the floor, my hunch was that the egg was the next thing to be thrown, so she went back to playing with the door while her siblings colored the remainder of the eggs.

We ended our evening with a delicious dinner of Sudado de Pollo (Colombian Chicken Stew) and Limonada de Coco (Coconut Limeade) - a couple of our all-time favorite Colombian recipes. The perfect way to end a lovely Easter celebration. A very HAPPY EASTER to you all!
