Dear Rose - How is my darling baby girl 10 years old already?! You've grown up so quickly from my tiny little one to such a big girl.
You are now very much a "tweenager". You rarely play with toys anymore. Instead, you are into music, YouTube and Roblox. You have a group chat setup with three of your "besties" from Turtle Lake Elementary. They text, call, and FaceTime you over and over and at all hours of the day and night. It's quite annoying for your dear old mom as you don't have your own phone number. Your iPad is linked to my phone, so I'm the "happy" recipient of all these intriguing messages.
You are most definitely Sam's favorite sibling. He must request his "Rosie" several dozen times a day. He's always wondering where you are and when you'll be back. He gets so excited to see you when you return home from school. You love playing with him, picking him up, and snuggling. You are such a great big sister.
Although, you just may be Aria's favorite sibling too. You are the only one that she eagerly requests to sit next to. Anytime she sees you cozied up on the chair with your iPad, she makes it well known that she wants to join you and gets the biggest smile on her face when I place her next to you.
Rarely do I find you relaxing without your beloved gray blanket. You drag that thing with you everywhere around the house and even to the car. You simply cannot part with it even though it's falling apart. You have quite the collection of soft cozy blankets, but the gray one is your tried and true favorite of all-time.
You are still dog-obsessed. You have loved puppies since you were a wee little tyke, often throwing caution to the wind and chasing after them. But now that you are older, you know to ask permission when wanting to pet some else's dog. While you would love to have your very own, you have been delighted to spend time with your "cousin" dogs and get your fill of puppy love.
You have become a bit of a basement dweller. While our basement is still unfinished, it is at least once again usable. It had been out of commission for quite some time when we had to move everything out of the sunroom due to water damage in that portion of the basement. But with some heavy duty organization, it has become a quiet sanctuary for you. You love spending time in the basement, swinging on the platform swing or hanging out on the trampoline.
You are a whiz in the kitchen. You no longer wait to be served, but dive right in gathering everything you need to prepare your breakfast or lunch. Fancy waffles with various fruits, chocolates, and of course, maple syrup are one of your favs. Lately you have become a smoothie artist extraordinaire. You love blending up a variety of fruits with milk and ice and topping it off with whipped cream, chocolate drizzle, and a strawberry garnish. You enjoy making it look just as lovely as it tastes.
Breakfast with Pa has become a morning tradition on the weekends. You relish your time out enjoying tasty dishes, typically with your little sister Kate in tow. The question every weekend isn't IF you'll be going out for breakfast, but WHERE you will be going. The Taste of Scandinavia is one of your local favorites and most requested breakfast spot.
You are all about doing other people's hair. I am most often your mannequin of choice to practice on. You like perfecting your pony tails and braids. But once your little brother came home, you realized his long locks were perfect for barrettes. You were pretty excited to unveil your master piece of Sam's hair pulled up in a pink clip.
What a perfect way to end your special day! A very happy 10th birthday to you, Rose! We love you to the moon and back!
