Who knew that at the ripe old age of 1 and 3 years old that the boys' activity schedule would keep us running! This winter we enrolled Cole and Owen in swimming lessons and Owen in ice skating lessons.
Our mornings started out at the Community Center. This was Owen's first swimming session that he was on his own with no parent in the water with him. The first couple of lessons were pretty rocky. I had to sit on the ledge next to him just so he would get into the water. But he soon warmed up to his teacher and started having a great time! He passed the Jelly Fish class with flying colors and will officially be an Angel Fish this March!

Cole had swimming lessons at the same time as Owen. This was Cole's very first swimming class! We weren't sure how he would do in the rather cold pool, but he loved it! He had a blast kicking his feet and even enjoyed the backfloat! Although he didn't really care for Life Jacket Day.

Each day after swimming, we'd head to Bruegger's, or "the bagel shop" as Owen calls it, to grab a quick bite to eat before jetting off to skating lessons at the Schwan Super Rink in Blaine. This was Owen's first official ice skating lesson. He has gone skating with Shane many times, but now he would be out on the ice without a parent and with many other little ones slipping and falling all over the place. It took some serious prodding and a couple weeks, but he was soon out on the ice skating this way and that! As you can probably guess, I was a bit on edge. Owen did a great job staying up, but my heart skipped a beat every time it looked like he was going down!

At the end of the session, Owen got a certificate of completion and advanced to the next level! Way to go Owen!!
Each day after skating lessons, Owen insisted on watching the zamboni clean the ice. Then we'd all head upstairs to the concession stand to get a pretzel with cheese and a blue Powerade and find a seat to watch a hockey game. One thing we learned throughout our Saturday mornings...Owen is a man of routine. And once that routine is established, there is NO messing with it!!
