Mis Amigos Program Finale

The boys gave their final Mis Amigos performance at the spring program on April 13th.  The preschool has grown so big that the program was moved to a large auditorium at Anwatin Middle School in Minneapolis.

Each class performed to a song from a particular decade.  Owen's decade was the 80s.  He was dressed as a rock star complete with punk hair-do, sunglasses and guitar.

Of course he had refused to take a nap before his performance so he fell asleep on the way there.  The 15 minute cat nap was just what he needed to get re-energized before the show.

Owen's class performed to the 80's song "Hey Mickey".  They had been working hard on their choreography for a few weeks.  Whenever we asked him how practice went, he always responded, "Good, but the girls need more practice."  Well, no wonder!  The boys stood in a row in the back, jamming with their guitars and looking cool while the girls had a much more elaborate routine to memorize.  Owen was all business up on stage, strumming away on his guitar with a very serious face.

Cole and his classmates got to sit with their parents to enjoy the first part of the show.  Before Owen's performance, they announced for the toddler class to come backstage to get ready.  When I dropped Cole off, he was not happy that he had to wear an elephant costume and became even more upset when I had to leave so quickly (I didn't want to miss Owen's performance!)

Soon it was Cole's turn to take the stage.  He came out wearing his costume minus the head piece - he is not fond of anything on his head.  At first, he was pretty nervous with a huge auditorium full of people he didn't know, but he stayed close to Maestra Lily and didn't even need Mom to rescue him.

Cole's class danced to "Los Perritos" from the 2000's.  The class is full of 2 and 3 year olds, so there were a lot of confused little faces staring into the crowd.  At one point during the performance, another elephant took Cole's place at Maestra Lily's side, but that didn't last long!  He sure loves his teacher!  And towards the end of the performance, he really started getting into the groove and threw in a few dance moves of his own.

So proud of my little men!  They did a fantastic job.  We will definitely miss Mis Amigos next year.

For those that missed the show, feel free to check out the video below - enjoy!
