The End is in Sight

It's been a long 7+ months, but we can finally see the end in sight!  We have been told that we will definitely be able to move in by May 31st, possibly earlier!  It's a great feeling to finally have a date to look forward to.  When we first began this process, we were told to expect it to take 6 months.  At the end of the day, it will likely have been a 9 month process.  But I think it will have been worth the wait!

The exterior of the house is nearly complete.  The siding is on and the stone work is nearly finished.  The bottom siding is LP Smartside and the top is a concrete board made to look like stucco.  I had really wanted stucco, but was advised against it by our builder due to the bad rap that stucco had gotten due to improper installation in the late 1990's and early 2000's.  So the stucco-looking concrete board was a compromise.  Everything still needs to be painted, but the exterior is definitely taking shape!

The interior has been slowly changing, although I was told today that over the next few weeks things will finally be on fast forward!  Thank goodness!  At the current rate, we wouldn't be moving in until next year!!

The tile work is nearly done.  It's taken him well over a month.  You'd think we were tiling all the floors and walls at this rate!  But no, over a month to tile just the bathrooms and mudroom.  For the most part, things are turning out well.

A few other things have happened in the interior.  The plumbers have been back and installed the master bath tub. It's a free standing tub and will have a wood surround that wraps around the back and sides.  At least that's the plan for now.

The fireplace guy brought the fireplace frame and glass stones for the interior.  The fireplace was installed much lower than I had wanted, but hopefully once it's all done it'll look okay (fingers crossed!)

The linoleum was installed in the laundry room.  Most of it has been covered with paper to protect it, but here's a glimpse inside the closet.

And the hardwood flooring guy installed the maple floors.  Of course I didn't make it out to see them before they were covered in paper.  But I got a sneak peak of it inside a couple of the closets.

The cabinets are currently in production and will likely be arriving soon.  As soon as they are here, the trimmers will be back installing the cabinets.  Then the painters will come and put some color on the walls and stain the woodwork.  Things are really going to start changing soon.  We have an exciting few weeks ahead!
