Since then, our adorable little baby has grown up into a handsome boy. Long past are the days of 'Thomas the Tank Engine' and 'Dinosaur Train' which have been replaced with more thrilling and action packed adventures like 'Jurassic Park' and 'Goosebumps'.
Owen's 8th Family Day festivities started the night before the big day with an outing to a Twins game. We got to spend the entire evening with just Owen while the littles stayed home with Nana and Popi. Before the game, we grabbed a bite to eat at an establishment that we wouldn't normally dine at with kids. Yes, that is orange juice that Owen's drinking!!
After an ice-cold OJ in a questionable glass and eating his favorite foods (chicken strips and fries), we were all set for the game. It was a beautiful night for a baseball game!
We cheered on the Twins while enjoying some yummy treats at the stadium. Izzy's ice cream was by far our favorite!! YUM!!!!
We made it all the way through 9 innings (the longest both Owen and I had ever spent at a baseball game!) but we still didn't get to see the end. The game went into overtime. Owen didn't want to leave, but us old grown-ups were exhausted so reluctantly we set off for home. The game ended just as we pulled into our driveway with the Twins defeating the White Sox!
The next morning Owen woke up excited to continue his Family Day celebration. He had planned the entire day! We grabbed lunch at Chipotle (one of his favorite spots), and then we were off to the Science Museum.
All the kids love the Science Museum! We spent the afternoon learning and exploring the museum and all its fun kid-friendly exhibits.
Before leaving, Owen picked out a little buddy from the gift shop to adopt - a stuffed animal Triceratops that he named Tory. He said his new Triceratops and him now shared the same family day! So sweet!
Owen, every year you look forward to celebrating your special day and this year was no different. You were so excited to have a day that was all about you! You are an amazing kid and we are so privileged to call you our son. What an honor it is! A very happy Family Day to you, Owen! We love you forever and for always!
