The Big Birthday Bash

Owen and Rose were born almost exactly 7 years apart - their birthdays are within just 2 days of each other!  To celebrate, we had one big birthday bash with all our family.  This year Owen wanted a dinosaur themed party (for the 6th year in a row!) and for Rose, it was elephant themed in honor of her much loved elephant blankie.

The house was divided with scary dinosaurs on one side and pink elephants on the other.

Owen even made a Jurassic World sign to hang on the door to greet our guests as they arrived.

The birthday duo were dressed up just for the occasion.  Owen wore his "It's my birthday! Let's party!" shirt and Rose was in her "two" shirt and tutu.

With two themes and two birthday kids, two cakes were in order.  (I'm definitely getting in some practice baking!)  Owen's was a chocolate cake with chocolate filling (his favorite!) and Rose's was a vanilla cake with raspberry filling and lemon frosting.

The kids' grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins all came to celebrate the big birthday bash.

Owen and Rose were blessed to receive many gifts which they thoroughly enjoyed!

Soon the pizza had arrived and it was time to dig in...

After lunch, the party wound up a bit with a festive game of "Pin the Flower on the Elephant's Nose".

Once everyone had a turn (or two or three) at the elephant game, we took turns singing 'Happy Birthday' to the guests of honor - first to Owen and then to Rose.  Owen could hardly wait to dig into his cake - he even had his spoon ready to go!

The party wrapped up just in time for the birthday girl's afternoon nap.  A big THANK YOU to everyone who was able to come and celebrate with us.  And a very happy 9th birthday to Owen and 2nd birthday to Rose!  Here's looking forward to the many amazing memories the next year brings!
