Happy Easter!

Easter 2018 sneaked up on us. The Easter Bunny didn't have any of her shopping done until just days before - thank goodness for Amazon Prime! But everything ended up coming together and we had a wonderful Easter celebration.

It all started the day before Easter at Nana Judy and Popi Dave's house. The kids look forward to this fun Easter-filled day every year. From the Easter Egg hunt to finding their baskets to dyeing eggs and a scavenger hunt, they enjoyed every minute! The only thing missing was our sweet little Kate. It was yet another holiday we have missed with her. But hopefully it will be the last.

The kids were excited to track down all their Easter eggs. There were so many that their buckets quickly filled up.

Eventually all the eggs and baskets were located. They were jam packed full of exciting surprises. There was even a basket hiding for little Miss Kate with fun items just for her (it's tough being the 4th child with lots of hand-me-downs).

The highlight of Owen's day was definitely the Roblox gift card and figurines - he had been hoping and wishing for a Roblox gift card for months!

Rose, Owen and cousins Jaden and Casey dyed Easter Eggs while Cole had fun playing with his Great Aunt Donna.

That night the Easter Bunny got to work at our house organizing baskets and filling eggs. Owen kept asking from the top of the stairs if he could help. My response was a definite "No! Go to bed!" He discovered a while back that all the generous characters (like the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy) that come into the house at night to leave presents for him were actually Mom and Pa. It was bound to happen as he is now 10 years old, but still sad for Mom knowing how quickly he is growing up. I sure miss those moments watching his eyes light up with curiosity trying to figure it all out. He came up with the most amazing questions and theories! Alas, that is now a thing of the past.

The Easter Bunny hid all the eggs and baskets, making sure to hide Owen's items extra hard, and hopped off to bed. It wouldn't be long before our early bird Cole would be up. He's usually a 5:00 am riser!

The morning came early, but the boys are always surprisingly patient, giving Mom a couple extra hours of sleep. At 7:00 am, the Easter Egg Hunt began for the boys. The Easter Bunny left them a note with specific instructions to only find the eggs with their names on (as Rose was still fast asleep.)

While looking for their eggs, they were also on high alert watching out for their Easter Baskets. The Easter Bunny did a good job hiding them, as neither could find them! Both needed clues and eventually located their baskets. Cole's was hiding in the cabinet and Owen's in the mudroom closet.

Rose got up at 9:00 am and had fun on her very own Easter Egg hunt. She could not wait to see what was inside. She opened each egg as she found it and then gobbled up the yummy candy.

After finding all her eggs, she located her basket hiding behind a chair.

The Easter Bunny packed the baskets full of goodies and new travel DVD players and movies for each of them - perfect for our upcoming trip to Colombia!

Then we scrambled to get dressed up in our Easter best and headed off to church. We were of course late to arrive and all the seats were taken so we sat on the floor in the back. It was actually perfect as Rose could spread out her "Quiet Bag" toys and coloring sheets that our Church supplies to keep the kids busy.

That afternoon we dyed our Easter Eggs (better late than never!) I had picked up two different methods - the normal "liquid dye in cups" and a new one using dyed rice. I thought the rice one would easier for little clumsy hands as spilling the cups full of dye is always a concern, but I didn't realize that squashing a fragile egg in a plastic bag full of rice would also prove problematic. But we tried our best.  The eggs came out beautiful (even though a few were slightly cracked - whoops!)

The eggs hadn't even dried and our boiled egg lovers were chomping at the bit to crack them open and gobble them up.

We hope you all had a blessed Easter!
