Kate's Baptism

On a blustering, frigid winter's day, Kate was baptized at St. Odilia Catholic Church. We had hoped to schedule it earlier before winter struck Minnesota, but with conflicts and finding a date that worked for all, it was pushed to January 27th. As luck would have it, the weather was not cooperative with a blizzard in the forecast and our out of town guests couldn't make the trip, except for Kate's Godmother, Aunt Donna.  She had scheduled a flight from Fargo in order to attend. Her original flight was canceled so we weren't sure she'd be able to get here. Thankfully, she was able to catch a later flight to the cities for Kate's big celebration. Phew! Both Kate's Godparents, Great-Aunt Donna and Uncle Jason, were able to make it despite the weather.

Kate looked like a princess dressed in white. She loved her pretty dress and was running all over the house giggling as I tried to take her photo.

Kate was one of four children being baptized at a special 3:00 pm service. She was the only mobile child with the biggest personality and was insistent that she be allowed to walk around to spend time with her guests.

Kate was in a silly mood and would let out her boisterous laughs during the quiet service. She was definitely stealing the show. When her time came for the Baptismal Font, she was starting to wonder what was going on and did not want to lay back for Deacon Carroll to place the water over her forehead.

Kate thought Deacon Carroll was exceptionally funny when he stopped to chat with us.

Although a bit chaotic for our crew of kiddos, we made it through the hour long service.

At the end, Kate was finally able to crawl up the stairs to the alter - she had been eyeing those steps the entire time! She happily sat on the step, ankles crossed, looking adorable in her pretty dress.

Afterwards, we headed home to celebrate with an early dinner and gifts. On the way, Kate fell fast asleep and slept all the way through dinner - she was a very tired girl! I finally had to wake up our sleeping beauty so she could eat and enjoy her gifts.

She loved opening her presents (with the help of her overzealous sister!)

We ended the evening with brownies - a favorite for all!

What a blessed day welcoming our sweet Kate Juliana into the church.
