Easter 2019

Our Easter celebrations started the weekend before with the traditional dyeing of the Easter eggs. This year we tried a tie-dye method that we've done before (and was great for Kate!) and a foam method that the older kids loved.

The eggs turned out beautiful. They weren't even dry yet before Owen and Rose were already begging to eat them!

Owen, Rose, Kate and Shane sure love hard boiled eggs. Our 1 1/2 dozen were all eaten in just a couple days!

The day before Easter, we celebrated at Nana Judy's and Popi Dave's house with food, games, an Easter egg/basket hunt and a scavenger hunt. It was a wonderful time for all!

That night, the Easter Bunny fell asleep while waiting for all the kids to conk out for the evening!! Shortly after midnight, I woke up with a startle as I realized the Easter Bunny nearly missed our house! The Bunny got to work hiding eggs and baskets and then it was back to bed.

The majority of our house is up by 6:30 am every morning, except for our Sleeping Beauty Miss Rose. She loves to snooze the mornings away and somehow is not woken up by the ruckus coming from downstairs. The boys have become accustomed to waiting for their little sis before tearing open gifts and Easter morning was no different. Everyone patiently waited for Rose to awake from her slumber. It was nearly 8:00 am by the time she joined the party.

Everyone wandered into the living room to see what they could see. Left hanging on a cabinet was a note from the Easter Bunny reminding them of the reason for the big celebration - that Easter is the day Jesus rose from the dead - and telling them that he left a little present hidden for each of them.

The kids hunted high and low for the Easter eggs with their names on.

Owen's were hidden extra hard this year - that bunny sure made him work for his treats!

The Easter Bunny outdid himself hiding the baskets a bit too hard. Kate was the only one to find her Easter basket without getting any clues. The rest of the kids needed a few hints to locate theirs.

The kids loved digging through their baskets to see what special treats the Bunny had left for each of them. And no one could resist gobbling up a few chocolates from their Easter stash.

Time for Easter mass quickly arrived as we threw on our Sunday best and headed off for a jam packed church. There were 2 masses going on - one in the church and one in the gym - both packed full of people. We were lucky to find a bit of floor space! Rose danced away to the songs, Kate wandered around saying hi to anyone she saw and the boys were a bit antsy not being able to sit in our usual spot (we are so looking forward to the day we can actually listen at mass!!)

Afterwards it was home for a late breakfast, too many candy snacks and lots of fun new toys. Happy Easter!
