Halloween 2020

Halloween 2020 was like no other (thanks COVID!) Our annual trip to Waldoch Farm was a quick in and out to grab our pumpkins and be on our way. It was a frigid October day (23 degrees with windchill - brrrrr!) and only Rose and Owen wanted to brave the cold. So off they went with Shane, all masked up of course, to pick out pumpkins for all the kids while the rest of us waited in the van. And yes, that is Owen wearing shorts in the freezing cold - he is a teenager after all!

Halloween fell on a Saturday this year. We spent the entire day at home with lots of Halloween fun.  The morning was filled with carving pumpkins. The kids each designed their pumpkin's own unique face.

Aria wasn't sure what to think about her pumpkin and despite several attempts of trying to get her to draw on it, as soon as the marker was in her hand, she'd happily toss it on the floor.

After the artists were done with their designs, Shane went to work carving them out. Although this year, Owen carved his all on his own. The girls even pitched in pulling out all the ooey gooey insides.

Lunch included all sorts of sugar with a candy buffet.

While the remaining pumpkins were being carved, Rose helped make pumpkin and chocolate chip muffins. She's quite the little helper in the kitchen.

Everyones pumpkins turned out perfect and just in time for Halloween night.

Instead of our annual trip to Nana Judy's for a family festivity, Nana Judy and Uncle Jason came to us. They setup some fun games for the kids to play outside along with an exciting scavenger hunt.

The kids picked out their costumes from the large supply we've gathered over the years. Owen decided he was too old for a costume this year, but the rest of our crew happily donned their character of choice.

Cole was a spooky ghoul. His little sisters were not thrilled with his choice of costume. It was much too scary for them (although much less scary than the creepy clown costume that he had wanted to wear!)

Out of all the girly costume options, Kate insisted on being a dinosaur which was a bit of a surprise considering that she insists on wearing a dress nearly every day. She looked adorable waddling around as a little T-rex.

Aria was Supergirl. A very fitting costume for a very super little girl.

Rose circulated throughout her many options starting with a Unicorn, then firefighter and finally a triceratops.

A bunch of Halloween goodies were hidden in each kiddos room for them to find, followed by a hunt throughout the house for their baskets full of candy and snacks.

While not our typical Halloween celebrations, we all enjoyed the day. Happy Halloween!
