The School Year Begins

The summer flew by, and the beginning of school was upon us. Sadly, I was out of town with Aria at her NAPA intensive so I missed everyone's first day. Instead of capturing their "First Day of School" photos, the kids obliged me with a "First Few Weeks of School" photo shoot.

Owen transferred schools this year to Totino-Grace, a private Catholic high school about 9 miles from home. He started his 10th Grade year on August 28th. We are used to an after Labor Day start date so this was a bit early in the year for us and caused some calendar juggling with our long end-of-summer trip to Illinois for Aria's therapy. Along with an earlier start day, Owen had to get used to being driven to school with no morning busing option available as well as wearing a school uniform.  It was definitely a year of change for him (and us! We sure do miss the convenience of bussing). But we are hoping this new environment is exactly what he needs to learn and thrive.

Both Rose and Kate started school on September 5th. Rose is now a 3rd grader at Turtle Lake Elementary while Kate started Kindergarten at Snail Lake Kindergarten Center. They were both more than excited for school to start.

Kate was both happy and a bit nervous that she could finally ride the bus like her big siblings. She was definitely ready for Kindergarten.

Cole's first day of school was September 6th. He is in the 7th Grade at Chippewa Middle School. It's his second year there so he's already quite accustomed to the school. His bus comes early with a 7:21 am arrival time so he is often off to school before Rose and Kate are even out of bed.

While Aria hasn't started school yet, she is just as busy as her big siblings. She attends speech/feeding therapy in Eden Prairie twice a week, PT in Apple Valley 3 times a week, and sees an OT at our house 3 times a week. She is working hard to become stronger and more independent.

Here's hoping this school year is full of fun, friendships and learning!
