Owen & Rose's Double Birthday Bash

Our typical August double birthday bash was postponed to mid-September due to Aria's 3 week long therapeutic intensive in Illinois. After wrapping up therapy and getting settled in back at home, it was time to party! We celebrated Owen's 16th and Rose's 9th birthdays on September 16th with a small gathering at home.

Rose was eager to open her gifts as soon as the guests arrived. She wasted no time ripping them open to see what fun things were hiding inside.

We took a break from gifts as lunch had arrived. Owen and Rose rarely agree on anything, but a birthday lunch of Raising Cane's chicken fingers and fries was chosen by both!

After lunch, it was Owen's turn to open his gifts. What could a 16 year old boy want for his birthday? Cash of course. It was his only requested item.

Dessert was up next! We all sang "Happy Birthday" first to Rose, and then to Owen. Rose had a very specific request for her birthday cake this year. She wanted a cake with pink ombre frosting, sprinkles and roses on top. It turned out just as she had hoped.

As for Owen, he requested his tried and true favorite - a tres leches cake from Cafe Latte.

After cake, it was time for the piñata! Our key-pull piñata is on its last leg, but we sure do love it. After all these years, the kids have yet to figure out which key (or keys!) are the lucky one to release the candy. It's always an exciting time as we anxiously watch and wait for the goodies to drop. Rose just happened to be the one to pull the key, releasing all the yummy treats from inside.

We had a fun time celebrating Owen and Rose, but soon it was time to bid a fond farewell to our guests.

A very happy 16th birthday to Owen and 9th birthday to Rose! Here's looking forward to a wonderful year ahead!
