Swim Team

Rose swam with the St. Odilia swim team this year. It was her first time swimming competitively and so fun to watch her progress throughout the season.

St. O's offers a low key swim team option for any child K-8th grade who can swim independently. They have practices twice a week throughout the season.

Not only can they work on their swim strokes, but they are also able to learn how to dive. This was a big first for Rose who had never before dived. They worked up slowly at each child's pace, starting from diving in off the side of the pool and slowing moving forward. By the end of the swim team season, Rose was diving off the board with confidence. In fact, diving was her favorite event to do.

Rose's favorite swim strokes were the breaststroke and the backstroke, although she's pretty strong at the front crawl too.

While she skipped out on the very first meet that was held shortly after practices started, she did attend to get an idea of what to expect and to cheer on her friends. After that, she was ready to join her team at the remainder of the swim meets.

Their state swim meet was held at the University of Minnesota. Popi Dave and Nana Judy came to cheer her on.

Rose both dove and swam in the girls 200 free relay. While they came in 5th in their relay heat, they did a great job swimming against 5th and 6th graders.

We are so proud of Rose and her commitment and determination to do her best. She had an absolute blast and is looking forward to next year.
