What's Going On?

The life of a family mid-adoption is very much one of hurry up and wait and wait and wait.  While we are still very much in the 'wait' period, we do have some news to report.  First off, we have a new social worker.  We loved our old social worker.  She is the manager of the international adoption program and with that came many years of experience.  But she has taken on additional responsibilities and felt that it was in our best interests to be assigned someone with more time to spend on our case.  So we are grateful that she is putting our interests first.  Although we haven't met her yet, I have spoken to our new social worker on the phone and she also seems great.  We will get to meet her soon since our Home Study expires in July.

In the most recent program update sent out by LSS, we found out two interesting pieces of information.  The first being that the LSS Colombian program is at full capacity, meaning that they are not accepting any new families into the infant program until existing families start being placed with their babies.  This is done to keep wait times in check.  They don't want families signing on and having to wait several years to be united with their children.  The other tidbit of information we found out is that there are only 4 dossiers that have been submitted to Los Pisingos (the orphanage that Baby #3 will be from).  For some reason there are 6 to 8 dossiers at every other orphanage, but only 4 at Los Pisingos.  And our best guess is that our dossier is #2 on that list.  While this does not mean that we will be the second family from LSS to be placed, as Los Pisingos takes many things into consideration when placing children, it does give us hope that sometime in the next 12 months, we may be heading to Colombia!

The most exciting (and nerve wracking!) news is that our application is currently in the approval process.  We know this because Los Pisingos sent a handful of additional questions to LSS for us to answer.  We are praying that our answers were what they wanted to hear and that our application will soon be approved.  If approved, the next step in the process will be matching us with our child!  From this point, we have been told we could find out any day now, a year from now, or anywhere in between (it's just one part of the exciting world of adoption!)  But we know that whenever it happens, we will be united with the child that was meant to be ours.
