With tears...

With tears in my eyes and a heart full of sorrow, today we mourn the loss of a remarkable woman, Mercedes Rosario Pineda de Martinez.  Mercedes entered our lives nearly 4 years ago when she traveled all the way from Colombia bringing along with her a photo that would forever change our lives, our very first picture of our son Owen.   We became parents thanks to this wonderful woman...

The day Owen was placed in our arms, she was there.  Her love for him, and all the children of FANA, ran deep in her soul.  She dedicated her life to caring for these little ones and in the process, touched the hearts of thousands of people across the world. 

While the world is mourning the loss of this very special woman, the angels in heaven are rejoicing that she has finally come home.   We will miss you, Mercedes!  Until we meet again...
