It's been an emotional couple of weeks in our household. After receiving the news about Los Pisingos losing its license to process adoptions, my mind was constantly on, thinking through the scenarios and worrying about the outcome. There were too many options with too many unknowns that I had to type up a list of all the different scenarios (I think the accountant in me was definitely coming to the surface!) Should we leave our dossier with the ICBF and have it transferred back to Los Pisingos? But how long would it take Los Pisingos to regain their license? Months? Years? Should we move forward with LSS's plan and send a letter to Ayudame asking that they work with us? And how would they respond? Yes? No?
We were thankful that our adoption agency was doing all they could to advocate for our family, but I couldn't shake the feeling their path for us just didn't feel right. It was boggling my mind trying to logically decide how to proceed. And that's when I realized that this was not a decision to make based on logic. The only way to move forward was to listen to our hearts, put our trust in the Lord, and pray for a miracle.
Our dossier had been in Colombia for over a year. The thought of
starting over with a different program in another country was not an option. Our hearts were in Colombia. Looking back, it shouldn't have surprised me when this twist of fate came into play. Neither of our boys came to us the way that we had planned. God had far better plans for us than we could have ever imagined!
Following my heart, I sent a letter asking for help and our prayers were answered. FANA came to our rescue. Due to the unusual circumstances, FANA made an exception and accepted our family into their program. We are so very thankful to FANA, Elena, and Marcia for helping our family in our time of need.
With the twists and turns of fate, it feels as though we have come home to the place where we were always meant to be. FANA has been such an integral part of our family for so many years. We know and love FANA and are excited to continue on our adoption adventure knowing that when the time is right, we will be welcoming our little one into our family in the same room where we became parents over four years ago.
