Come sail away...

This summer a sailing class was offered on a lake near our house and Owen was eager to give it a try.  He learned everything from how to tie different knots to how to steer a sailboat.  He even got a chance to learn how to kayak when the wind wasn't cooperative for sailing.

Owen and his buddy from school were on the same sailboat - just the 2 of them out enjoying the water.  The boys sailed while an instructor followed along in a kayak close by to help guide them.

Owen even learned what to do if the boat turns over!  Eek!  That part made me quite nervous!  The kids sat in the sailboat in the middle of the lake while they were tipped over by the instructor.  Then they had to work together to get the boat upright - one person pulling on one side and the other person pushing on the opposite side.

Of course Owen loved it all!  By the end of the week, he was quite the little sailor man!
