Now that we have a high schooler, we are all experiencing some new "firsts" - like a very first Homecoming game and dance. It's definitely new territory for us as we let Owen start spreading his wings.
Mounds View High School's Homecoming game was September 30th. The Mustangs played the Anoka Tornados winning 17 to 7 (Go Mustangs!!) Shane chauffeured Owen to the game. He quickly spotted some friends and disappeared into the crowd.
Rose and Kate tagged along to cheer on the Mustangs to victory. They had a blast on a beautiful, surprisingly warm fall evening and came home with all sorts of Mustang gear - pom poms, stocking hats, necklaces and green glitter eye black stickers.
The next night was Owen's first Homecoming dance. He was ill prepared despite me asking for weeks if he needed anything special for the dance. At the last minute, he decided he needed a new outfit for the special occasion which meant a mad dash to the mall to see what we could pull together. Being too big for the typical boys' section, but too small for men's clothes left us scrambling with very little to choose from but we managed to find something to work. Owen even thought a tie would be fitting for the occasion. He's NEVER willingly worn a tie before. I guess my little boy is growing up.
He looked dashing all dressed up. Of course we weren't allowed to get many photos. Just a couple quick pictures and he was out the door.
It was a late night out for him (and us!) with the dance ending at 11:00 pm. He had a great time and said he was tired and sore from all the dancing. Oh to have been a fly on that wall...I can only imagine.
