Happy Halloween

Halloween fell on a Monday this year, so we spent the Sunday prior celebrating at our home. We started out the day designing and carving our pumpkins. Each kiddo came up with their own designs…

Then they helped clean out the gooey insides. Cole opted out of this step, but the girls thought it was loads of fun.

Owen and Rose did it all from designing to scooping out the seeds to cutting out the faces while Shane took on the chore of the carving for Cole, Kate and Aria. He had to muster up a bit of artistic creativity to interpret their artwork.

The pumpkins turned out great and were ready just in time for the big day.

While Owen and Cole thought that they were officially too old to dress up for Halloween, the girls were more than excited to choose their costumes this year. Both Rose and Kate were quite creative with their choices.  Rose wanted to be Hello Kitty and as per usual, I had procrastinated ordering Halloween costumes until the last minute so we had to be a bit inventive to find items that would arrive in time for the big day. Thankfully, it all came together and she looked like a pretty darling Hello Kitty.

Kate was adamant that she wanted to be a gopher, much to my chagrin (Go UND Fighting Sioux!!) While I couldn't track down an actual gopher costume, we did locate a chipmunk which she of course looked absolutely adorable in.

As for Aria, she was the easiest of the 3 and opted to be a princess. With her dark locks, Snow White seemed the perfect option. She looked beautiful.

It was an abnormally warm October day so I took full advantage and hid their Halloween buckets outside for them to find. The kids had fun searching the yard high and low for their buckets filled to the top with all their favorite treats.

The next day was Halloween. Rose and Kate once again got dressed up for the occasion and hit the neighborhood with Shane.

They came home with their buckets teeming with candy. We are sure to have enough candy to last us for quite some time!

A very Happy Halloween to all!
