Cross Country

Owen transferred to Totino-Grace High School this school year. Along with a new school, he decided to get involved in a new activity - cross country. The beauty of a small school is the long list of no-cut activities. It didn't matter if he wasn't the fastest. Everyone could participate.

Cross Country is long distance running, typically a 5K. He had practice 6 days a week and was quite committed to the team and doing his very best. Practice started mid-August allowing him to make friends before the start of the school year.

Owen had several meets throughout the year at various locations across the metro. Most meets were in parks with white lines drawn to indicate the running path.

While definitely not a spectator sport, it was fun to see him in action. All the kids line up waiting for the race to start...and then they are off! Like a herd of cattle.

Despite the long distance and difficulty of the terrain, Owen always would flash a smile when he'd run past us.

As soon as the finish line was within sight, he'd kick it up and blast forward with all his might.

At the very last meet of the season, the course was a muddy mess resulting in a very muddy covered Owen by the end of his 5K.

We are so proud of his commitment to do his best and support his teammates. Even waking up for Saturday morning 8am practices without a complaint. Way to go, Owen!
