Today was our first full day at our amazing rental house in La Mesa. While it doesn't have the glorious views of our Villa de Leyva house, it is twice the size with 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms! Plus the amenities can not be beat - a huge pool, ping pong table, air hockey table, carom billiards table (we thought it was a pool table but there are no pockets), and a play set. But my mom and I are most excited about the in-home washer and dryer. It's so much more convenient than having your clothes sent out for cleaning.
We could not have picked a better place for 2 weeks of family time. Sadly, Shane is heading home on Monday so he won't get to enjoy the entire stay. But he is booked to return March 8th with Owen! We are so excited to see him and spend some time in our beloved Colombia with our entire family of EIGHT!
It is quite hot in La Mesa with temperatures in the mid-80s. With no AC, we are taking advantage of the large pool to cool down.
The pool is 5' deep, which has me a bit nervous as none of the kids can touch and only one of them can swim. And with Shane leaving soon, we'll be down one adult. But luckily there's a nice shallow area that works perfectly with our bath chair so Aria can sit and Sam can be held while I play lifeguard.
Today even Sam loved the pool. He was all smiles and motioned to go back in over and over when it was time to get out. He definitely knows how to communicate his wants and needs and we are quickly learning what each sound, motion and facial expression means.
This afternoon Shane, Rose and Kate headed into town to load up on more groceries. While we had some items delivered yesterday, it's hard to send a list of items to the kind lady helping us, not knowing exactly what she will pick up. We are definitely missing the specificities of Shipt! When they came home from grocery shopping, it was time for more swimming!
Kate has been on a leaf hunt since we arrived. She's been gathering them up from the pool area and has a nice little pile growing. She insisted I take a photo of her leaves and is hoping to bring them home. Alas, we let her know her special leaves could not return to Minnesota. But I'm guessing that won't stop her from collecting more.
The next several days will likely be more of the same as we wait for word that the judge has approved our case. We are hoping to hear early the week of March 4th, fingers crossed! We only have our rental through March 7th so we hope to be heading to Bogota by then.
