Floor Hockey

Cole's winter season with the RAMS Adapted Athletics team was spent playing floor hockey. It was his first time playing the game in a competitive environment.

Floor hockey is quite aggressive and fast paced. The puck would veer from one side of the court and then get smacked all the way to the other side as the players would scramble to take control of the puck. I'm still uncertain how the team plays wearing only shorts with no protective gear on their legs!

It was definitely outside Cole's comfort zone as he's a more laid back observe-and-watch kinda guy. But he stepped up to the challenge and did his very best.

The season started in December with the last game in February. The RAMS played hard and won several games. It is a co-op team and several of the kids also played soccer so Cole knew many friendly faces. The team registration was once again too small to have both a JV and Varsity team so Cole played on the Varsity team with a group of 8th through 12th graders.

The RAMS home court is at Highview Middle School in Mounds View with practices and games Mondays through Wednesdays. The team travels across the metro to their away games, even as far as St. Cloud.

One of the most exciting games of the year was hosted at Mounds View High School. The gym was packed full of spectators, including Cole's teachers who had come to cheer him on. Even the pep band was there playing throughout the game and energizing the players and the crowd.

Cole of course had his own cheerleading section comprising of Shane and I along with Aria, Nana Judy, Popi Dave and even Uncle Jason and Great Popi Dineen. It was so fun to watch and cheer on our favorite team...GO RAMS!
