The Tooth Fairy and El Raton Perez have a new client...Cole lost his very first tooth!! His lower front tooth had been loose for quite some time. While getting ready for school on Thursday (February 5th), he bumped it pretty bad. Some blood and lots of tears followed. The bump loosened it up even more that it was now hanging on by a thread. Cole did not like the feeling of his tooth flapping around in his mouth (and I was a bit afraid that he'd swallow it.) On the car ride to school, we talked about how his tooth will fall out soon - just like his big brother Owen, and he would soon be visited by the Tooth Fairy and El Raton Perez. Knowing this definitely eased his nerves and frustration with with the wiggly tooth in his mouth.

For those that don't know, whenever one of the kids loses a tooth, we have an extra special visitor at our house - El Raton Perez. El Raton is a friendly mouse who visits the homes of children in South America who have recently lost a tooth. He takes the child's tooth and in return leaves them a gift. He's basically the South American equivalent of the Tooth Fairy. We are privileged to have El Raton Perez make the long journey all the way to Minnesota to visit our boys. While the Tooth Fairy leaves behind money, El Raton leaves a gift which makes losing a tooth much more bearable!
On the morning of Friday, February 6th, Cole was in the playroom when he came out running. He excitedly yelled, "My tooth fell out!!!" In which I replied, "Where is it?!?" We both ran back to the playroom to comb through the carpet where he had left it. Thankfully I found it! I'm not sure what the Tooth Fairy and El Raton Perez would have thought if we had lost it!

The tooth was so loose that there was no blood or tears for my little guy. Thank goodness! And Cole's new tooth is already popping through so he won't be toothless long. We put his tooth in his little pillow that Nana Bev made just for the occasion.
Sometime during the night, his visitors snuck in, took his tooth, and left behind a gift. Cole is an early riser, so when he woke up on Saturday morning, he headed downstairs with Pa so the rest of us could get a bit more sleep. He had somehow forgotten about his special visitors. So when the rest of us got up, we reminded him to come and see if he had had any guests during the night.
He asked on his walk upstairs, "Did the Fairy and El Raton come?" Sure enough, he checked his pillow...the tooth was gone!! And next to it was 4 quarters from the Tooth Fairy and some new stamps from El Raton Perez! He was one happy boy!
