We finally got word about our upcoming court date in Guyana. Unfortunately, our case is not on the docket for as soon as we had hoped.
We are tentatively scheduled for court on Friday, July 19. We were so hoping to get on the docket for this Friday but Guyana has been in a state of political upheaval for months now which has caused the courts to be slammed with a number of constitutional motions. The Judge told our lawyer Sadie that she "will try to squeeze us in." Pray that our case does not get bumped and that we can be granted our First Order on July 19th.
The Child Protection Agency is aware of our court date and knows to expect the First
Order as soon as it is issued. There aren't many adoptions scheduled for hearing this month so we are
hopeful to get on the list for the July 31st Adoption Board meeting. Although we can't
officially be put on the list until we get our First Order. With only 3 weeks until the next Adoption Board Meeting, we are running out of time.
I spoke with Jocelyn, Aria' foster mom, yesterday via WhatsApp and was able to see Aria. She was chatting away and sucking on her fingers. Aria had another appointment with Dr. Jabour, the pediatrician. Even though she is due for vaccines, Dr. Jabour wanted to give her more time to recover before administering them. He also prescribed her a vitamin. We are so thankful that Aria is able to keep seeing Dr. Jabour. He's the best pediatrician in Guyana!
Please continue to send up your prayers for our sweet girl. We are hoping and praying to make the July 31 Adoption Board Meeting.
