Fedex under-promised and over-delivered. Our original documents arrived to Sadie's office (our lawyer in Guyana) Wednesday morning!! For some reason, Sadie didn't have the originals gathered that she was in charge of collecting from the CPA. She needed both Aria's original birth certificate and the newspaper ad that had been run in the local paper, a requirement in Guyana so that birth family can be notified and come forward to adopt before a child can be placed with non-relatives. Sadie said she'd pick up these documents later on Wednesday and file our case on Thursday.
Thursday arrived and I checked in once again to see if Sadie had been able to pick up the remaining documents and file our case. She responded that she was able to file with just copies of the originals and would pick up the originals at a later date. So as of Thursday, our case has been filed with the court!! Sadie thought we'd be told our court date later that day or on Friday.
Jocelyn called Thursday morning so we could chat with Aria. Aria looks to be doing well. She seemed very alert and content. She was giggling and sucking away on her pacifier. We can't wait to see her again in person and get some snuggles! Hopefully in just a few weeks!
On Friday I checked back in with Sadie, hopeful that we'd have a court date scheduled for July 12th. Unfortunately, the court still had not scheduled our hearing. So we are still in a holding pattern waiting to hear when our case will be heard. Please send up some prayers that we are able to get on the Court's schedule for Friday, July 12th. We need to get our First Order granted on July 12th to ensure we can make the July 31st Adoption Board meeting.
