Instead of walking there, we grabbed a cab at La Fontana and were dropped off right in the action. Last week when we were there, we grabbed drinks at Oma and chips at Subway. Of course, Cole who always thinks with his stomach, was only interested in juice and chips!
The rest of us perused the many items, buying things left and right. It feels like we're paying with Monopoly money - $1 USD is worth $2,900 Colombian Pesos. It's hard to track just how much you're spending, until, as in our case, you run out of pesos! We really loaded up. Now I'm just hoping everything survives the trip home!
After most of our shopping was done, we stopped by Oma in the Santa Barbara Mall again for Mora juice for Cole and a mocha for me, and then grabbed ice cream for the rest of the crew at the shop next door.
We had two more items to purchase before leaving, one on the far north side of the market. Instead of heading back to our apartment the usual way, we continued north rather than back tracking. The only problem was I wasn't 100% positive of the road we needed to head west on. My hunch was correct, but I did turn my phone on just to verify we were headed in the right direction. It wasn't the most direct route, but eventually we made it back! Of course, us Minnesotans are sweating as we walk in the beating sun wearing short sleeve shirts while the locals are passing us by wearing parkas!
It was after 3:00 pm by the time we got back and everyone was excited to see Kate. She was chilling out in her chair.
We were beat after the long walk so we had dinner in the apartment followed by a bath for little Miss Kate. She sure loves her baths! She kicks and kicks those legs until there is water all over the floor AND mom!! Today we reduced Kate's oxygen to 1/32 of a liter. We've been monitoring her oxygen saturation levels and she is continuing to do great - yippee!! We are hoping and praying she'll be off the oxygen soon. The nasal cannula is really irritating her lately - she pulled the tape completely off her face 3 times this morning! It's getting harder and harder to keep it where it needs to be so hopefully she can be done with it soon.
Tomorrow is a busy day. We'll be applying for Kate's Colombian passport, getting the necessary notarized documents so that Shane can leave the country with Owen and Rose AND going to visit FANA. Wish us luck as the count down to our flight home begins!
