The first of those days were jam packed with paperwork, trainings and more paperwork followed by weeks of waiting. Waiting for our home study to be written. Waiting for USCIS to approve our I600a. Waiting for Child Protection in Guyana to review our dossier. Waiting for the judge to approve our First Order. I am not a patient person (and Shane even less), but through the grace of God, we survived the wait without losing our sanity. And in just three days, the wait will be over as we travel on the final leg of our journey to FINALLY bring Aria home!
The last time I video chatted with Aria was Sunday. She was so adorable and active - looking around, making sounds, waving her arm and laughing. To think in only four days, she will forever be in our arms.
This journey has been one full of joy and excitement, tears and frustration. It has literally brought me to my knees as we struggled to get Aria the medical treatment that she so desperately needed. The relief when she come out of surgery. The despair when we learned that the US had closed adoptions from Guyana. And the sheer determination to do whatever necessary to get our daughter home. We have witnessed countless miracles along this journey and know that God put us exactly where we needed to be to bring our sweet girl home.
Finally, we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. We pray that by this time next month, Aria will be home where she has always belonged.
