Day 3: A visit to the Pediatrician

Last night Aria slept well, although I still sleep with one eye open checking on her every so often. She woke up at 3:00 am like clock work, but this time she drank her whole bottle! It took her 1 1/2 hours to get the 4 ounces down, but she happily sipped away. Jocelyn had taken Aria off the straight formula and put her back on a "porridge" mixture of 1 scoop formula to a full bottle of soupy rice cereal. A huge hole had been cut into the nipple to allow the mixture to pour out easily. Supposedly Aria didn't like straight formula, but perhaps it was just taking her too long to eat or Jocelyn was trying to stretch the formula as it's quite expensive. So we are back at trying to maximize Aria's calories so she can put on some much needed weight. Thankfully, the last couple days she has been eating fairly well.

We were supposed to meet with our lawyer Sadie today, but instead she just called us. She had contacted the court to find out if our case had been scheduled yet, but as of this morning, the CPA had not yet brought the necessary documents to the court. If it doesn't get filed today, we will have to wait for our Final Order until sometime next week.

We grabbed another late breakfast at the restaurant attached to our hotel. Aria enjoyed eggs, watermelon and papaya. She really loves eating table food. She was laughing and nibbling away.

We've been practicing rolling from side to side and last night she did it for the first time all by herself!  She definitely prefers one particular side so getting her to turn over has been a challenge.

She has been mimicking noises which is so very cute. She loves to chat, giggle and squeal. She's got quite the pipes on her!

At 3:00 pm, we headed to our appointment with the Pediatrician, Dr. Jabour. We decided to walk since it was only 3 blocks away and there were sidewalks along the way (which isn't usual for Georgetown). It was our first time taking a stroll in Guyana. Traffic is a bit wild here, but we made it with no issues. Shortly after arriving, Sadie texted that the file had been delivered to the court. Now we just had to wait to hear when we'd be placed on the schedule. We were still hoping for tomorrow.

We ended up not getting into our 3:30 appointment until 4:15. Finally our names were called. The nurses took Aria's measurements and then we waited for the doctor. Aria grew a couple centimeters but hasn't gained any weight since Jocelyn last brought her in nearly 2 months ago so he was quite concerned about her weight and wants us to bring her back before we leave for another weight check.

Aria did not like Dr. Jabour and started screaming the moment she saw him. He was actually happy that she was screaming because it meant neurologically she was aware of where she was. It was hard to ask him questions with her screeching, but overall he said she looked good. He said her head looked fine. The area that feels a bit concave is her soft spot that just hasn't closed yet due to her condition. He recommended a poo test to test for parasites, so we are hoping for a timely poo tomorrow so we can drop it off at the hospital.

After we walked back from the doctor's office, we grabbed dinner at the hotel's restaurant again. Aria was pretty cranky and then she fell asleep for a few moments before waking up and deciding she wanted to eat. She loved the mashed potatoes and was wiggling to the music for the rest of the meal.

We were anxiously awaiting news from Sadie regarding our court date for our Final Order. It was close to 7:00 pm when we finally got the news - our case had not yet been scheduled. So now we wait to hear tomorrow when our case will be heard. Please send up some prayers that the Judge will hear our case quickly. We need to have our Final Order issued before we can proceed with the next step.
