Day 5: Moving to the Marriott

Last night was a rough one. Aria slept like an angel, but the noise from the street kept me up most of the night. Someone was partying just outside our hotel window with music blaring, cars honking and people talking. Finally around 2:00 am, the noise stopped and I could finally sleep.

Today was moving day. We are moving to the Marriott for the next 20 days. We are hoping we won't need to figure out additional accommodations and that by the end of those 20 days, we will be heading home. We packed up our room at Kings Hotel and then grabbed another late breakfast at our hotel's restaurant. There was a little girl that sat behind us and Aria was super excited to see her. Aria was laughing, jabbering and trying to turn around so she could interact with her. She is such a little sweetheart!

We spent the afternoon lounging around our room at King's Hotel. They were kind enough to give us a late check out so we could move over to the Marriott at 3:00 pm when our room would be ready. We've enjoyed our stay at King's Hotel but are excited for the additional amenities that the Marriott offers like a gym, pool, elevator and outdoor space.

Our belongings seemed to have grown over the last 5 days and we barely fit into Quincey's car for the drive to the Marriott. On our way there, we made a pit stop at the grocery store to pick up some food for Aria and a jug of vinegar. We had received a diaper bag full of Aria's belongings from Jocelyn, but in the bottom of the bag were 2 moth balls so everything inside the bag reeked. It was so bad, we had to throw out the photo album that we had given Aria at the end of our last trip. I wanted to save a few of the items like the dress Aria was wearing the first time we meet her so they are currently soaking in a sink full of vinegar. Hopefully it'll get the smell out.

When we checked into the Marriott, we were upgraded from a city view to ocean view! The sights and even smells were familiar as this was the same place we stayed during our first visit to Guyana. We asked for a microwave, fridge and crib to be brought to our room and in no time at all, all were delivered. We should be all settled in for our long stay.

The view from our room
Since the Marriott has an elevator (YAY!) we loaded Aria up in the stroller for the very first time. I knew she would be mad when I put her in, but she loves to move so figured that once I got her strapped in and strolling, she would be one very happy little girl...and I was right! She loved strolling and let out happy squeal after happy squeal.

We grabbed dinner outside by the pool. The weather was beautiful, the food delicious, and Aria content in the stroller. It was the first meal I have had in days without having to hold a squirmy little peanut.

Tomorrow will be another lazy day. We are eager for Monday to arrive and hopefully make some progress on the adoption paperwork.
