She had a great morning and was so happy and sweet. She even drank a few ounces and ate some watered down bananas to get a bit more liquid in her. After Aria's breakfast, we walked down to the hotel's restaurant for brunch. Aria LOVED eating bits of watermelon and eggs. She really likes big kid food. Hopefully more teeth come in soon so she can chew a bit better.
During our brunch, our lawyer Sadie called to chat. She asked that we get Aria's original birth certificate from Jocelyn. We were uncertain if we needed it for today's meeting so a bit of panic set in. We contacted Jocelyn but couldn't get ahold of her. So we contacted Ms. Jardine to see if we'd need the birth certificate for the Adoption Board Meeting. She said we did not need it today, but we would need it for our upcoming court date. Phew! We still needed to track it down, but not in less than two hours!
Finally Jocelyn called back. She informed us that she had given the birth certificate to Sadie on July 4th. So we asked Sadie if she still had it. She responded, no - she had given it to the CPA. So who had it?? It can take a week to get a birth certificate issued which would delay our court date.
Shortly after, our phones beeped with another message from Sadie. She had the birth certificate all along!! Thank goodness! She planned to drop it off at the CPA in the afternoon.
Aria took a long nap while we prepared for the Adoption Board Meeting. At 1:30 pm, Quincy picked us up and took us to the CPA for our very important meeting. We had been waiting for so long for this step! It was finally time!
Sadie arrived to the CPA at the same time as us to deliver Aria's birth certificate. We chatted briefly and she wished us luck as we made our way upstairs to the Board Meeting. We took a seat to wait our turn. We were next on the agenda!
Soon the door opened, the other family exited and we were invited into the room. We sat around a huge round table. There were 6 board members already seated. The man running the meeting thanked us and asked if anyone had any questions for us. It was radio silent until one women spoke up. She asked one easy question - what kind of experience do we have with children with special needs. We answered the question and that was that. Everyone congratulated us on being approved.
We're so glad that the meeting was a cinch, but it made us wonder why they couldn't have just Skyped with us last month. After the meeting, Quincy picked us up, we made a pit stop at the grocery store and then it was back to the hotel for the remainder of the day.
Tomorrow afternoon we are bringing Aria to see Dr. Jabour, the Pediatrician. We want him to take a look at her, specifically her head. The area where the fluid bulge was previously now feels a bit concave. Based on how she is acting, we aren't too concerned, but it'll put our nerves at ease speaking with Dr. Jabour.
We will also be meeting with our lawyer Sadie to discuss our next step - the Final Order. We are waiting to find out when we can meet with the Chief Justice who will grant the Final Order. We are hoping and praying that the Chief Justice will meet with us on Friday. Once we get the Final Order granted, the countdown to bring Aria home begins!
