Tomorrow is the big day we have been waiting for! We were initially going to be picked up at 8:30 am for court. BUT we got a message tonight that our court appointment has been moved up. We will now be leaving bright and early at 7:45! That's pretty early for us to get everyone ready, fed, and the remaining items in the house packed up. Hopefully the morning goes smoothly.
We will appear at court at 8:30 am to sign the Adoption Decree. Once we have Sam's signed Decree, we will be on our way to Bogota! Our in-country representative in Bogota will be applying for Sam's new birth certificate listing us as his parents while we make the 2 1/2 hour trek to the metro. Once we arrive to Bogota, we will drive directly to the passport office to apply for Sam's Colombian passport and our rep will meet us there with his new birth certificate. If all goes well, we should have Sam's Colombian passport on Friday.
We are in store for a long jam-packed day. I'm hoping the kids manage okay with all the "hurry up and wait" that we are sure to experience tomorrow.
Luckily they were all resting up today. It has been a quiet, relaxing day here in La Mesa. We've spent the day packing up the majority of our belongings and prepping for tomorrow's day full of administrative steps and a long drive to Bogota. Andres, the house caretaker, came over to examine the potential critter living in the gap above the cabinet. But other than cleaning up its mess, he didn't do much else. So I guess the critter will remain for the next house guests.
We spent the afternoon taking our final farewell swim in the amazing pool. The kids are sure going to miss their daily dips.
We are anxiously awaiting tomorrow's court appointment. We're down one adult so we will definitely have our hands full. Thankfully Shane and Owen will be joining us on Friday. And come tomorrow, Sam will be legally our son!
