Day 26: The Usaquen Market

We spent today shopping at the Usaquen Flea Market. It's a giant outside market with tent after tent after tent of handmade Colombian goods - jewelry, toys, clothes, food, art, you name it! The market spans several blocks and has some amazing items to peruse. We found some very special keepsakes to remember our trip.

There are a plethora of restaurants lining the streets in this particular area. It can be overwhelming to figure it out on the fly (we have several picky kids after all), so we planned ahead to grab lunch at Archie's - a local pizza and pasta restaurant that we've dined at previously. The food was delicious, but the service was lacking. A couple of us never even got our drinks until after we finished our meal.

Kate was not at all interested in participating in a group photo - she wanted a photo of just her in her new Colombian dress and headband. The girls sure had fun shopping!

We started on the north side of the market and finished at the Santa Barbara mall. It was the perfect spot to grab a shady seat near the play area and sip on the deliciousness of an Oma Mocha.

The playground has not changed one bit, although it is definitely showing much wear.

After playing, the kids requested their own treat of ice cream.

Nana Bev was holding a napping Samuel so Cole kindly fed her the tasty sweet treat.

We had left our apartment at 10:00 am and didn't get home until after 3:00 pm. It was a long day of shopping! We spent the rest of our time in our apartment relaxing.

We are staying at an Airbnb near Parque 93. It's a 4 bedroom to fit our large crew of 9, and it has an amazing terrace.

We are loving our time in Bogota and can't believe we will be heading home on Saturday. We have so much more to see and do and are hoping we can fit it all in. Tomorrow Shane and Sam have a 7:30 am appointment at the US Embassy to apply for Sam's US Visa. Fingers crossed it goes well and by Tuesday we have his visa in our hands!
