Easter arrived just two weeks after we returned from our long, exciting trip to Colombia. To say I was unprepared is an understatement. Thankfully Amazon came to the rescue delivering nearly everything the Easter Bunny needed just in time for the big celebration.
Cole, Kate and Aria awoke with the sunrise ready for the day. The three of them searched high and low looking for their hidden eggs and baskets until they had collected them all.
Kate was being extra silly pretending to lay her Easter eggs. She is such a ham!
Rose joined the festivities an hour later. Her first stop was to read the note that the Easter Bunny had left and to check on the status of the snacks that she and Kate had left out for the Bunny the night before. There were only a couple nibbles of carrots left on the plate. The Bunny must have gotten full from the large plate of delicious crunchy snacks and couldn't quite finish them all.
Rose wasted no time gathering all her Easter eggs and locating her Easter basket hidden in the closet.
Sam soon joined in the fun. It was our very first Easter with him. He loved all his goodies.
The morning flew by and we scrambled to throw on our Sunday best and head off to 11:00 am Easter mass.
We made it to church in time AND found seats!! YAY! Afterwards, we enjoyed brunch at the North Oaks Golf Club. They even had an Easter Bunny walking around to greet the kids and real llamas outside for petting. Rose and Kate attempted to take the llamas for a stroll. Although the llamas definitely had minds of their own.
As the Easter Bunny approached our table, we quickly discovered that Sami has a severe fear of large costumed Easter Bunnies. He took one look at the Bunny and screamed in terror. Poor boy! When the Bunny came back around again, we made sure that Sami couldn't see him this time.
After brunch, we headed home to finish up our Easter activities. Finally the eldest, who had slept in too late, found time to search for his hidden treats.
The Easter Bunny sure did a thorough job hiding Owen's eggs and basket. He looked and looked and looked and finally needed a few helpful clues to find the remaining items.
The rest of the day was spent coloring the 3 dozen hard boiled eggs I had prepared for the occasion. The kids had the option of using the traditional dyeing method or coloring them with markers using an egg spinner.
Aria did an amazing job this year. Last year she just wanted to throw the eggs. She's got quite the arm!
Sami loved holding the markers too and decorated several eggs with Shane's assistance.
