| Good morning! |

After a late breakfast in the apartment, we ventured out to the Bogota Botanical Garden. We were picked up by a local favorite, Jorge Rico. Jorge has a vast wealth of knowledge about Colombia and especially about the vegetation. But before we headed to the garden, we had Jorge make a pit stop at Lava Sport (a laundromat) to drop off our clothes for cleaning. Lava Sport is quite a walk from our apartment, but you can get your clothes washed inexpensively and pick them up the same day!! A huge bonus! So after dropping our clothes off, we headed on to the Botanical Garden.
The gardens are a truly beautiful peaceful place. So peaceful that Rose slept through most of it!
When it comes to the weather in Bogota, the question isn't if it will rain, but rather, when will it rain. About halfway through our tour of the gardens, the sprinkles started and didn't let up, but a little rain didn't stop us.

To escape the rain, we took shelter at an indoor exhibit. Jorge's daughter accompanied us on the tour. She and Owen are both 7 years old and they really hit it off. So much so that they were getting pretty rowdy by the end of the tour.
The tropical plants inside the exhibit were amazing.

The rain started coming down a bit harder, so we ended our tour of the garden and headed for the car. We decided to grab a quick bite to eat. Jorge brought us to a traditional Colombian restaurant in the area. We shared 1 1/2 chickens, plantains, potatoes and a litter of soda, all for $25,000 pesos (that's less than $10 US dollars!) In Colombian tradition, everyone dug in with their hands (except for me, I grabbed the only fork.)
After eating a delicious meal, we picked up our laundry (yay for clean clothes!) and headed back to our apartment. The rest of the day included a coffee run to Oma, a very messy little girl devouring her cereal, and lots of relaxing at the apartment.
