Day 5 - Cedulas and Psychologist Meeting

Today was a busy day.  This morning we went to get our cedulas (Colombian IDs).  We were supposed to be picked up at 9:00 am.  I just happened to glance at my email this morning and there was a message from Cecilia (our representative in Colombia that helps us through the adoption process.)  She emailed me at 8:15 saying she would be at our apartment in 20 minutes!!  It was a scramble to get everyone ready and out the door, but we somehow managed!

We loaded into a tiny cab and there we sat, stuck in traffic.  The traffic in Bogota is much worse than it was 6 1/2 years ago!  Eventually we got close enough to our destination that we exited the cab and walked the last couple blocks.  When we got to the building, Cecilia butted us in front of several people.  After talking to the security guard, we were allowed in, but Cecilia couldn't come with us.  So we had to navigate the process alone.  I'm not quite sure how we got through it, but we did!  And in record time.  In Colombia, if you have small children, they let you jump to the front of the line.  We were in and out in less than 1 hour.  Considering we were told it could take up to 3 hours, we were happily surprised!

By the time we got back to our apartment, it was lunch time.  We had decided to make lunch at our apartment today and it was a good thing we did.  Not long after, our phone was ringing.  It was Cecilia.  She had just found out the psychologist from FANA was on her way over!  So we hurried to tidy up the apartment and finish feeding the kids.

Soon our doorbell rang.  It was Adriana, the psychologist.  We had met Adriana before.  She has come to Minnesota the last couple winters for the Camp of Dreams.  It was nice to see a familiar face.  Unfortunately, Cole thought for some reason she was coming to babysit and he got really upset thinking that we were leaving him.  It took quite some time to calm him down.  After the boys were settled into one of the bedrooms, the rest of us chatted with Adriana.  She asked us several questions and before we knew it, the interview was over and she was heading for the door.  Fingers crossed that the chaos she witnessed won't make it into her report!

Shane had some work to do this afternoon while Owen and I went on a laundry run.  Unfortunately, the laundry facility at our apartment complex charges per item even though their sign lists per pound.  Maybe it was a language issue, but we weren't able to figure out how to get the per pound rate.  So Owen and I loaded up the stroller and took off in search of a lavanderia.  A friend had recommended Pronto that was just a few blocks away.  They took our clothes and printed out a receipt.  Many words were spoken, but I didn't have a clue what was said.  So then I asked in my poor Spanish when they'd be ready and she responded Saturday.  Uh oh!  We are pretty much out of clean clothes!  After we got back to our apartment, I looked at the receipt and on it it says they'll be ready Wednesday after 5:30.  So we'll either be shopping tomorrow afternoon or picking up our laundry.  Stay tuned!

We spent the rest of the afternoon at our apartment relaxing after such a crazy day.

Snack time!
At the Sunday market, we picked up a couple t-shirts.  They were compressed into teeny tiny little t-shirt shapes.  Since we are running low on clothes, we thought it was a great time to get the shirts ready to wear.

Rose is such a sweet, easy going baby.  She fits into our family perfectly.  Somehow FANA did it again, matching us with the child that was always meant to be a part of our family.  We are so thankful and blessed to have these 3 beautiful niños!
