Day 8 - Bienestar Appointment

We had a very long morning today.  Rose woke with the birds at 4:00 am.  I was able to get her back asleep just in time for my alarm to go off at 5:00.  It was a scramble to get everyone fed, dressed, and out the door by 6:30 am to meet our driver for our 8:00 am appointment with the Defender of Minors.  With the traffic in Bogota, you never know how long it'll take to get to your destination (that's why we had to leave 90 minutes early!)  Luckily traffic wasn't too bad and we made it to the Bienestar office (the Colombian Family Welfare Institute) with time to spare.

Our meeting with the Defender of Minors went smoothly.  She only asked us one question - How is the baby doing? - and that was basically it.  We signed several documents and she congratulated us on the newest addition to our family.  Our lawyer was also there.  He was going to submit our case to the court today.  Next week is Holy Week and all the government offices close for the entire week so there will be no progress in our court case until after Easter.

After our Bienestar appointment, we headed to another government office to get Owen his Colombian ID card.  We were told that he needed one now that he is 7 years old.  He got photographed and fingerprinted for the card.  He looks so grown up in his photo!  And of course he wasn't allowed to smile.

We spent the rest of the afternoon at our apartment relaxing.  We had lunch, Shane did some work, the boys played outside, and Rose napped most of the afternoon.

"Umm.  Tasty!"

"CHEESE!"

"Hmmmm. Interesting."

Fingers and toes!
"Enough photos, Mom!!"

We took a walk around the city late this afternoon.

After our walk, we grabbed dinner at none other than Oma.  It was requested by a very insistent Owen.  We had our usual waitress.  It was almost comical because she knew exactly what we wanted!

Dinner at Oma again!
Cheers!
