Day 11: Errors on the Final Order

This morning we received an email from our lawyer, Sadie. She had spoken to the women at the Supreme Court Registry regarding our Final Order. It was printed and just waiting a signature. Once it was ready, Sadie was going to send someone to pick up the Final Order, bring a copy to the CPA and get the Letter of Recommendation, and finally drop off both documents to the post office to request an Adoption Certificate.

In Guyana, when a child is adopted, their original birth certificate is destroyed and an Adoption Certificate created in its place. It's sad to think that Aria will no longer have a Guyanese Birth Certificate. Even though we are supposed to have destroyed all copies, it just doesn't seem right to get rid of this important piece of her history so we have made copies to safeguard on her behalf.

We grabbed an early lunch outside by the Marriott's pool (again). The waitresses recognize us now and often try to guess what we are planning to order. They usually get it right so we may have to branch out a bit more ; )

Around 2:30 pm, we got an update from Sadie - her clerk had picked up the Final Order! We let out a cheer...and then 20 minutes later, we received another message from Sadie. There were errors on the Final Order. They had misspelled "Slominski" and had selected "male" as Aria's gender. Now we need to wait until Monday to get a corrected Final Order issued.

Shane leaves for home tomorrow, but Sadie has agreed to send someone to help me apply for Aria's passport once we finally have the Final Order and Adoption Certificate. That'll be one less step that I need to tackle on my own with my little peanut in tow.

Pray that Monday brings good news and progress. I am anxious to get Aria home and to see the rest of my kiddos.
