Day 7: Poo Test, Craft Alley & Swimming (Oh my!)

This morning Aria woke up a bit fussy. We soon found out why. After two days, she finally pooped. It was the perfect time! Shane headed to Mercy Hospital with a poo sample in tow to be tested for parasites. We wanted to make sure to treat her for any parasites that she may have before heading home.

After that fun adventure, we got ready for the day and waited for "the call" to come to court. We didn't know if it would happen today or not, but we had to be ready just in case.

We grabbed a late breakfast by the pool. It was a very hot day and not much of a breeze was blowing. The Guyana Cricket team is staying at the hotel and the players were taking over the lobby area along with the local media. As we walked to the elevator to head back to our room, we walked right behind an interview taking place. We just may make the local news!

Since we were stuck in waiting mode, we decided to take care of the passport application so that we'd be ready to apply for Aria's passport as soon as possible. We printed the Guyana Passport application at the Business Center here at the Marriott and I filled it out the best that I could. We still need a bit more information once the Adoption Decree is issued. The application also requires a signature from someone with status who can vouch for the applicant. We are hoping that Sadie will sign the document for us so that we don't have to go in search of a Justice of the Peace.

Around 1:00 pm, Sadie texted that she was heading back to the court. She had been there all morning but there was no word yet on our case. She was hoping that the Judge would squeeze in our case this afternoon. About 30 minutes later we got another text...the Judge had left work for the day to attend a funeral. We would not be going to court today. Instead our wait would continue.

Since we no longer had to wait to hear about court today, we headed out to run a few errands. Our first stop was Mercy Hospital to get Aria's test results from her poo sample. No parasites were found! YAY! Some good news! Our next stop was to a small market area called Craft Alley to pick up some souvenirs. There were a number of tents set up along the road selling all sorts of Guyana souvenirs. We bought a lot and may go back for more. We just need to make sure we can get it all home.

While we were shopping, we got a text from Sadie. We are set to meet the Chief Justice at court tomorrow at 3:30!! We are praying that our meeting is kept and not rescheduled.

After a quick stop for snacks at the grocery store, we headed back to the Marriott to test out the swimming pool. Aria is not fond of the shower so I wasn't sure what she would think of the pool. It seemed like a mixed bag to her. She'd cling to us with a concerned look on her face one moment and then let out a big giggle the next moment.

After cleaning up from swimming, we settled in for a lazy night at our room. We can not wait to meet the judge tomorrow! If all goes well, the Judge will grant us our Final Order and Aria will legally be ours!
