Day 19 - Rose is ours!

It's official!  Shane signed Sentencia this morning and Rose is now legally our daughter!!  He arrived in La Mesa at 7:00 am with our representative Cecilia (an hour before the court opens!)  They grabbed coffee at a cafe just across the street.  When the court opened at 8:00 am, they were the first to arrive.  Shane signed the document and they made the 3 hour trek back to Bogota.

Shane signing Sentencia!

We are overjoyed to legally be named as Rose's parents!  She is such an amazing little girl!  Her smile lights up the room and her laugh gets everyone else laughing.  She loves watching her big brothers run around.  They are both very intriguing to her.  She's always trying to get ahold of whatever electronic device they are playing with.

She is a mover and a shaker, always rolling over, army crawling and trying out her last skill - the crawling position.  She hasn't quite figured out how to coordinate her hand and knee movements to crawl, but that doesn't stop her from getting around.  When she's got her eye on something, she will get to it one way or another.  She's a very determined little one!

She loves sucking her middle and ring finger at the same time.  It's her sign that she's either sleepy or very content.  She loves pulling hair, especially her Mama's!  She thinks diaper changes are a blast, flashing her big smile whenever it's time to be changed.  It's probably because she knows once you start getting that diaper off, she will be rolling over while you try as you may to keep her on her back.  She definitely gets a kick out of that move!

Everything she finds goes directly into her mouth.  She loves chomping away on toys, hands, anything!  Her bottom two teeth have popped through and more are definitely on the way!  Which means her mouth is a bit of a waterfall these days.  The drool is constantly flowing, soaking whatever gets in its way.

She loves kisses everywhere!  On the nose, forehead, cheeks, lips, and especially Eskimo kisses.  And she loves giving big, open mouth, wet sloppy kisses back!  She's become a bit of a Mama's girl lately (which I love!)  When I'm holding her and someone talks to her, she'll look intently at them and then bury her face in my shoulder.  It's adorable!  We are truly humbled and blessed that she is a part of our family!

While Shane was making the long journey to La Mesa, the rest of us had a relaxing morning at the apartment.

Owen woke up this morning to a missing tooth.  I thought for sure he had swallowed it.  But I eventually found it in the bed.  I'm sure El Raton Perez will be delighted that he doesn't have to travel to the U.S. to pick up Owen's tooth this time.

This afternoon the Slominski boys spent some time at the pool.  They loved playing with their new water toys from the Easter Bunny while the girls stayed on dry land.

Owen spent much of his water time reenacting Jurassic Park with his water toys.  He is completely obsessed with that movie!

The pool is on the 19th floor of the apartment building and has an amazing view of the city.

Shane is heading home on Thursday, so this afternoon we attempted to get a letter notarized allowing me to the leave the country with the kids.  He is planning on flying back to Colombia next week to travel home with us, so this is just an insurance policy if something happens and he can't make it back.  Well, Cecilia (our representative) wasn't able to come with so she sent her assistant in her place, who by the way only speaks Spanish.  After a long conversation at the notary, we were sent away without our document being notarized.  Rose's legal name hasn't been changed yet and notary needs us to do that before we can get our document notarized.

Tomorrow is Shane's last day here.  We will be touring FANA and (fingers crossed!) getting our document notarized!
