Day 11 in Colombia!

Today the Slominski’s were up early! Owen slept pretty well, so he was ready to get moving at 6:00 am. He took Papa out to the living room to play so Mama could clean the bottles since they were all dirty. He also played in his crib for a while and learned how to take his pants off all by himself!!
Owen wore his very special outfit that we bought on our mad dash to Chicago to get our Visas.

We then went to breakfast at 7:30 sharp. We wanted to make sure we had enough time to get ready since we were heading to the Botanical Garden with the crew from El Refugio at 10:00 am (and these days it takes us 2 hours to get ready in the morning!) We loaded up the van and a cab and all headed to the garden. We spent a couple hours walking around and looking at all the plants, trees and flowers.

After getting back to El Refugio, Owen had some fun playing with diapers (yes, they were clean!)…

Playing with the door stop…

Playing peek-a-boo with Papa…

Jumping around in his jumper…

And just being adorable!

Then we decided to run some errands with the Sibley’s. First we headed to Baby Ganga to pick up a birthday present for Owen. Then off to find a working ATM (which is never easy here.) Our next stop was Maku, a Colombian artisan shop. We picked up soccer jerseys for the 3 of us. We only had time to hit the first floor of the 3 story shop when the kids started getting antsy, so we’ll need to swing by again to do more shopping. Our last stop was Crepes and Waffles for ice cream. That place is to die for! We’ll be going back again tomorrow for lunch. Owen was his charming self getting a table full of women sitting behind us to laugh and coo at him.

A couple things I forgot to mention in previous posts…

On the way home from the Salt Cathedral, Owen had his very first sucker that Taciano was kind enough to give to him. He absolutely loved it! I could hardly pry it out of his mouth! He sure was a drooly sticky mess!

At Mercedes’ last night, he grabbed a hold of her cane and used it to stand up. And then he proceeded to shake it has hard has he could! I nearly fell over at the thought of him knocking her down. But she just looked down at him, laughed, and said that all the kids love to play with her cane!

Some more fun facts we've learned about Owen…When he’s hungry and sees a bottle, he pants like a puppy! He loves sticking his fingers in other people mouths! He’s infatuated with tongues. He loves computers and always wants to help type. He’s become quite the little biter – his favorite places to bite are his Mom’s legs and shoulders. He loves opening and closing the door by pulling on the door stop. He’s outsmarted us and knows that when his medication is coming, to lock his jaw, close his lips and blow it all over us!
